The Founders

Stefanie Reneé  is a mother, photographer and joy-seeker. She recently left her full-time day job to leap into her dream of becoming a photographer. As a mom to 2 beautiful young girls, she's busy shuffling around between home, the studio and freelance projects but you can always find her stopping by the cafe for a Chai tea. You might also see her walking the beach, or the streets searching for pieces of joy to capture with her many cameras. which is where the real therapy happens.

Stef is currently working on creating a book of her last few years; transitioning from office job to creative life.  During this time she's traveled the U.S. to interview and photograph a wide range of women who have inspired her to pursue her own creative dreams.  A sampling of this work can be found on her monthly column "Creativity Speaks" and in her portfolio.

The making of Teahouse Studio is a dream come true and she looks forward to working with her partners in bringing community and creativity together.  Find out more about her on her website.

Mati Rose McDonough lives in San Francisco where she regularly encounters lucky elephants, talking birds and a mysterious girl who always wears feathers in her hair. These creatures of mystery and grace remind Mati daily that no one is too old for magic or too young for beauty, so she paints their stories in paint, fabric, found paper and canvas for fans of hope and adventure all over our dear world. When she's not covered in paint you can find her biking to the ocean, drinking tea and searching for colorful baubles of inspiration to share with you. It has been a long held dream of Mati's to be part of an art studio like Teahouse and she couldn't be happier to have this opportunity to be bring community and art together!

Professionally speaking, Mati studied painting at the California College of the Arts and has had many shows around the country. Mati has taught at painting retreats around the country and abroad in Italy. She is represented by Lilla Rogers Studio in illustration and licensing and has had her art published on Patagonia shirts, University Game boards, Pier 1, Calypso cards, Madison Park Greeting products and Oopsy Daisy canvases. Mati has also been included in several magazines and books including recent features in "Artful Blogging" magazine and "The Handmade Marketplace" book. Find out more about her at her website.
