This brick is the best feature! I wrapped some of my silk scarves around the pole and came back to lights!

inspiring me lately...

Have you guys ever checked out the artwork of Mark Johns? I love his quirky characters and adorable style!

I love things that are purposefully wacky! His drawings have inspired me to start drawing more.

I've always had a block when it comes to sketching (full disclosure: I'm terrified of it!) because I've never been good at accurately rendering things. My giraffes only *sort of* look like giraffes, but they're one of my favorite things to paint.

People keep saying that sketching is key when it comes to creating new art. I think it's about time I got over my block, huh?

Is there anything about art that keeps you blocked? Anything you want to try but are hesitant? Maybe we can help each other out! I'll commit to sharing my wacky sketches with you, as long as you promise to be nice!

Here are the workshop details! 

The Teahouse girls all took her Polaroid class up in Oregon back in February and knew we had to have her teach at THS. She is an amazing teacher and has amassed a wealth of knowledge over the years shooting polaroids. Hula laid out all of her cameras and different film side by side on a long table and showed us all the leg work she has done over the years. Such a gift! If you're curious about polaroid film, but are not sure how to start... this is the perfect opp!

Friday inspiration*

Teahouse loves Anthology and Design Sponge

It's Friday and we're all in the studio:  Mati is finalizing up the 3 books she's been working on, Tiff is coaching in the hot pink office and I'm editing photos.  All is well in the world when we can all be here doing what we love!

The studio has so many great reads that a summer afternoon like this deserves to have a little time on the lawn with these awesome reads:  I'm totally in love with the Anthology mag and hey, Design Sponge printed a newspaper this week and we snagged one!  so cool.

We've been trying to have Friday afternoon dance parties (Beatles Friday baby!!) to get the weekend started out right ~ what do you do to get the weekend party started?

do what you love AND get paid? (is it possible?)

First, yes. Period. It is possible.

But, hoooowwwww? Isn't it amazing how that pesky how always seems to get in the way?

Lucky for all of us creatives, the lovely Tara Gentile has figured it all out and is coming to Teahouse next month to teach us something about the art of earning...She says it can be beautiful, and we believe her.
